Hi, I’m Ilia - Machine Learning Engineer with Specialty in Computer Vision
I’m passioned about computer vision either classical or ML and love to tackle challenging engineering problems with unusual conditions and solutions. In the mean time I play classical guitar, learn foreign languages, build open source projects and write blog posts.
Experience
Machine Learning Researcher - Huawei
Saint-Petersburg, July 2024 - now, more than 1 year
This is my current role. I am mostly working on making very efficient ML models for image signal processing (ISP) used in mobile devices.
Machine Learning Engineer - Sarafan Tech
Saint-Petersburg, October 2021 - July 2024, 3 years
I was responsible for the whole lifecycle of ML project from data gathering and model training to deployment and monitoring. The communication with investors was an integral part of my work too. The projects were diverse, ranging from classical ML to NLP and computer vision. The most notable one was visual search system with the database with millions of entities.
Computer Vision Developer - 3DiVi Inc
Chelyabinsk, January 2021 - August 2021, 8 months
Mostly worked on driver monitoring systems (DMS) using C++ and Python. Independently developed and implemented a solution for head-pose calibration problem. Implemented and maintained internal product usage cycle, for user-side issues identification.
Intern - 3DiVi Inc
Chelyabinsk, October 2020 - December 2020, 3 months
While being at this role, I developed a synthetic data generator using a neural network for depth estimation and Blender for image rendering.
C++ Programmer - Sonda Technologies
Chelyabinsk, August 2020 - August 2021, 1 year
Integrated a neural network into existing C++ fingerprint verification system.
Education
Master’s degree at Applied Mathematics - ITMO University
Saint-Petersburg, 2021 - 2023
This program is devoted to applicable Machine Learning and Data Analysis. After taking healthcare related specialty I learned a lot about what role data plays in the medical domain. Taking into account the importance of interpretability when using complex algorithms in healthcare, I devoted my master thesis to the comparison of different XAI techniques under the hood of a single benchmark.
Bachelor’s degree at Computer Engineering - South Ural State University
Chelyabinsk, 2017 - 2021
Computer engineering program in the Department of Electronic Computing Machines allowed me to study low-level computer structure, C++ language, processor architectures, networks and Windows/Linux admin tools.
